Truth is you can grow a garden just about anywhere you have space for a few large containers and sunlight. If you have a deck, a porch, a small yard that gets 4 to 8 hours of sun each day, let your imagination soar!

Old wash tubs and wooden barrels make beautiful garden containers. Make sure you put holes in the bottom for draining and be aware that they will be rather heavy once you fill them with dirt, compost, whatever you use to plant in. Good organic compost is not as heavy as all dirt and makes for much better growing.

You can grow a number of herbs in the same container if you are short on space, and it makes a lovely display in your yard or on the patio/porch.

You can grow herbs and other vegetables together, or mix herbs and your favorite ornamentals, such as curley leaf parsley planted around a single rose bush is very beautiful. Plus the parsley will improve the health of the rose bush and intensify the scent of the roses.

Thyme is wonderful grown in pots, not only for it beauty but the scent is heavenly!  Place a container by your back door and every time you walk past it run your hands through it or just touch it lightly and the aroma will stay with you for awhile.

Mints are another good container plant, they are extremely easy to grow and maintain. You can use them for teas, and a host of other seasoning ideas. Lemon balm leaves are a great addition to any fruit dish and a sprinkling of peppermint in a cup of hot coco is oh so good!

Rosemary is another good container herb plant, and what you can do with this herb is well worth the time it takes to grow it. One of many talents rosemary has is what it will do for chicken. Just take a chicken breast(take off the skin, bad fat) rub with a small amount of olive oil and a good dashing of fresh ground black pepper. Place two  to 4 sprigs of rosemary on top of the chicken and wrap in a sheet of baking foil. Bake for 30/40 min. until done. No salt, no fat, and the best chicken you will ever taste!
